About Us
Your Farmers - Melissa and Michael
My husband works in town as a welder and I stay home and run the farm. We have four young kids who love being on the farm and helping every day.
The farm is like no other way to raise kids and a family. It’s a passion that is very hard to explain to people. We bust our butts daily to put food on the table yet the life lessons learned from it are incredible and life changing.
The Farm
My great grandfather’s family came over from Germany in the mid 1800’s. They settled in the Kenosha area. In 1900 my great grandfather Joe Gerlach traveled to Marshfield Wisconsin when he heard there was land for sale that the loggers had cleared. Upon arrival they purchased an 80 along the yellow river.
From there they built a house and then built the barn with all of the left over timbers that the loggers did not want. The barn was built in 1910. He built an addition unto the barn in 1979. My grandfather then farmed it until 1988 when my father purchased the farm. My father still owns the farm today with a transitioning over to my family in purchasing. It consists now of 100 milking and dry cows, 75 heifers
from birth to springing, 45 beef cows, and around 50 steers we finish out from our beef herd. We also farm around 425 acres of corn, beans, oats, wheat and alfalfa. My family will be the fifth generation.
